All rules are thrown out the window when it comes to student work. No clients to impress. No budget constraints. No endless revisions. It's a true test of pure creativity, which is why we enjoyed hosting the first-ever Ad Scout 08 contest to look for the best student advertising work on the Behance Network.
Our judges included Ann-Christine Diaz of Creativity Magazine, Deacon Webster of Walrus, Thompson Harrell of BBH, Noah Brier of The Barbarian Group, and Matias Corea of Behance. After pouring through 168 submissions, they narrowed it down to their top 3:
Adam Richardson takes down the gold with his 'London 2012' campaign. Fresh and visually stunning. It captures the true spirit of competition, pride, and glory. It's the only time in four years that we actually sit down to watch cricket, archery, and synchronized swimming. OK, we can't lie, we're excited for London 2012.
Runner-up goes to Ed Deezy for his "Hoover" campaign. What's not to love? A bunch of M&M's running away from a Hoover vacuum is just...awesome. Makes us kind of guilty for cleaning up after ourselves.
In a close third comes Luca Masud for his 'HIV' campaign - a playful solution to raising awareness. Each typographical composition mimics an erogenous body part that upon touch morphs into a hidden image. The word HIV surfaces as a result of physical contact. It's kind of like a chastity belt, but worse. Job well done.
If you really like these campaigns as much as we do, do you good deed for the day, and hire these students. We can't promise how long they'll stay on the market. Thanks again to everyone that contributed and participated in Ad Scout' 08. Until next time...
