Born in Denmark Annekei grew up in a musical family with 4 brothers, both parents were professional jazz musicians. Played the piano from age 3, and wrote the first song at 13. In 2002, moved to New York City, built a band and a small fan base, alongside many hours of restaurant work. Performed twice at the famous "Apollo Theater" in Harlem and went to the finals of "Showtime at the Apollo" in 2003. Summer 2005, the Annekei club single "More Of Your Love" was released in the UK, and the following year, she was discovered by a Japanese reviewer and brought to Tokyo to sign a deal with the Japanese label "Being Records". Her self-titled album, that was released in September 2006, gave her the title as "Best New Foreign Artist" at the ADLIB Awards in Japan. The newly recorded 2nd album that is scheduled for release in the summer 2007. In New York, Annekei is still persistently working on landing a U.S. deal with some of the most respected local producers and musicians. She regularly plays venues such as "The Living Room", "Pianos", "Joe's Pub", "Rockwood Music Hall", "Bowery Poetry Club" & "Blue Note".
