Announcing Winners: The First Be-Contests

By Heather Ann Snodgrass

A while ago, we decided to kick off contest opportunities on Behance by introducing Be-Contests across the realms of Graphic Design, Photography, Film, Fashion and Blogging. As the voting drew to a close last week, we were pleased to discover the contests -- which would reward each of the five grand prize winners with $1000 cash and ten runners-up with a set of Behance's "Action" products -- had been a giant success.

Photography: Andrei "Trick" Robu, for his collection of simple, sometimes startling portraiture. Runners-up in this category were Francesca Tallone and her series of ethereal images shot on a Diana Lomo and Carlos De Spinola for his "5 Days in South Africa" study.

Film: Jenn and Sara, for V Water (Viral Animation) -- which was featured here on Friday in our Network spotlight on motion arts. Runner-up honors went to Lacey Schwartz for "Outside the Box," and Januzzi Smith's event identity for Film Festival Locarno's 60th anniversary.

Graphic Design:
Pavel Pavlov, for "Illustration," a strong look at the depth of his portfolio. Runners-up were Tom Muller, for his publication and logo design of 24SEVEN's second volume and Jannuzzi Smith's work on Central St. Martin's directory over the last decade.

Blogging:  Haik Avanian, for "Digitalomo", a photoblog showcasing lomography. Runners-up in this category were Julia at "Modelizing Manhattan" and Jess Gill's "Musings of a Distracted Spunk."

Fashion:
It was a close one, but Carga took home the top award here for "Felt Edition." Runners-up accolades went to Kyle Kesterson's iamintricate x dejekt collaboration and Lars Amhoff's Opus Duae timepiece, featuring the work of Nigel Dennis.

Behance would like to thank everyone involved -- the participants, judges and you, the reader -- for their hard work and support of the Be-Contests. We're so very excited to see where these contests will take us in the months to come!
Appreciate It!
